  1. hey lovely!!! I'd really appreciate your advise on something.. I currently have a 60D Canon DSLR and am about to purchase a 50mm F1/8 (I want the blurred background for my images to upload on my fashion blog) and I' am still trying to wrap my head around the whole settings for ISO, Aperture and Shutter speed etc. I was hoping if you could advise me a recommended standard setting for my camera with the 50mm F1.8 lens that I could start off with? I understand how to change the settings to best work with the light etc but I don't really know what I'm doing. All I do is just go back and forth and test shot until I get the right setting for the particular time of day. Sorry if this doesn't make sense but I would really appreciate your advise ๐Ÿ™‚ Love your work btw, if only we lived in the same city let alone country haha

  2. hello. i am an aspiring photographer. i want to travel and take pictures but money is an issue. please tell me your tips for that because you are such an inspiration and i would really appreciate it : )

  3. I love Seattle ! It's a beautiful city. i always wanted to come back. I lived there for 6 years but during those time i wasn't interested in photography. There are so many beautiful scenes at the Washington States. What a pity!
Also I like your style a lot since you proved that being a pro doesn't need a lot of gears. I like it that you're making money off those equipments which i also think are adequate (with the mark IV it's plenty more than adequate) and don't get sucked into the obsession with gear. I do think a lot of lens review are exaggerated when it comes to image quality and resolution while my experience is that those expensive lens are better but not by that much. Sigma 35 1.4 is a fantastic lens and i have it. Since owning it i have been disappointed with the sharpness of 135mm 2.0 and 70-200 f2.8 mkII which i got after the sigma because of the hyped reviews.
Anyway i have concluded that unless it's a very cheap lenses, sharpness doesn't matter as much as people make it out to be. Flare control, chromatic abbreviation are much more important. Most prime lenses are sharp enough.

  4. I have the same lens but don't get the results I want, in terms of burs and quality. I might need to change my camera body though, because seeing that we have the same one makes me wonder if it's really the lens I dislike ๐Ÿ™‚

  5. Hi Jessica Photography of videography is an art form so use whatever tools in whatever way you would like to express this ! I do have a couple of recommendations I would use two cards I know you'd have to have CF and SD cards but it would be better than losing your images A Gepe card case Will hold 4 CF and 4 SD cards you have a 24 to 105 L series lens that you're not using this would be exceptional for your video Channel the lens is image stabilized on with the handheld camera stabilizer you could get great video on the move giving you more creative options for your channel PS for external travelling hard drives I recommend LaCie rugged hard drive they're great for travelling with , I've travelled all over the world and I've used them for years and they never let me down they come in multiple options checked him out at BNH it is the store in New York that has a great website and it is great for looking up at researching camera gear I hope you find my recommendation helpful but in the end it's your art do it your way

  6. Should I get a Used/Refurbished 5d Mark II with a 1.4 50mm, or New/Refurbished T6i with a 1.4 50mm .
Is a full frame worth the extra money??, I do feel like I wont get the most out of lenses with the T6i because it's a crop sensor so the focal length isnt used at its full potential. What do you think plsss help????

  7. You shouldn't have bought the Mark IV, it's a pretty useless camera/upgrade from the Mark III tbh. Canon is seriously lagging behind the competition like Sony, Fuji and Olympus/Panasonic. The Mark IV was a pretty underwhelming camera and you should've stuck with your Mark II or went with the Mark III instead. Or of course you could switch to the Sony or Fuji which are both vastly superiorย and more compact systems IMO

  8. amazing video Jessica, keep it up. Also i had a question. what metering mode you use when shooting in manual? can you do a video on how you set up your camera before shooting and what settings you use on your camera. Thank you. you got yourself a new subscriber. ๐Ÿ™‚

  9. If anyones looking for a 50 then don't go for the 1.4, either go for the new STM 1.8 or perhaps a sigma 50 art if your budget allows. The 1.8 is sharper than the 1.4 and considerably cheaper and then the sigma is just a beast in general.

  10. Hey Jessica! Just curious if you do shoots with more than 1 person with your 50mm 1.4? Planning a family shoot (up to 10 people) and wanted to know what your thoughts were? is it a suitable lens or would you just do portraits with it?
